Porto Rotondo’s Amphitheatre was first inaugurated in 1995, and was first designed by sculptor Mario Ceroli. Its project was then fulfilled by architects Gianfranco Fini and Marina Sotgiu.
Constructed with typical raw local granite, it is decorated with symbolic high-relieves created by Mario Ceroli himself, recalling archetypal settings of classical Roman and Greek theatres . Classical inspirations can also be noticed in the xterior in its tambour, arches, ornamental obelisks, highlighting the contrast between the granite and the masonry blocks con la pietra a blocchi del muro.
How to get here: the site is right in line with Piazza San Marco in the heart of Porto Rotondo, along Via Porto Rotondo.
